The Poster Quote Review: 3:10 to Yuma (2007)

April 30, 2008

A remake better than the original? Blasphemous! Well, in James Mangold’s powerful, moving and gripping remake he’s taken a classic and improved upon it. And it’s in colour!
They don’t make ‘em like that anymore, they make ‘em better. This will be regarded as a masterpiece in years to come, I’ve no doubt.
Brilliant.

Check this out. It has to be deliberate.

New Indy TV Spot

April 28, 2008

I love it. This is the best clip yet. I still cannot believe I am going to get to see a new Indy movie in the cinemas. It makes me all misty eyed with nostalgia.

Watchmen, Hmm

April 26, 2008

At the risk of geek expulsion I have to admit that upon finishing reading Watchmen this week I was pretty much indifferent to it all. The quotes on the back cover of my copy range from “the greatest piece of popular fiction ever produced — Damon Lindleloff” to “Time’s 100 Greatest Books Ever Written.” [...]

The Poster Quote Review: Babel

April 25, 2008

Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Babel tells a story that isn’t about how much damage a single bullet can cause — that is merely the connective fibre between three separate yet interlinked stories — but about how damaging power can be. When we stop treating each other as human beings, lives are ruined. In the film, the [...]

Backlash to WGA Leaders

April 21, 2008

Over at The Artful Writer you can read a thought provoking response from a number of writers to the bizarre and creepy email sent to guild members last week naming and shaming members who went “fi-core” during the strike. It seems the ill-considered stunt has backfired hugely. And justifiably so.

The Poster Quote Review: Fracture

April 20, 2008

A taut sophisticated thriller, Fracture entertains not with cheap tricks or tripe clichés but with a smart courtroom procedural that ticks all the boxes. Even though some boxes should have been left unticked.
Ryan Gosling continues to impress with his palpable talent, holding his own against screen icon Anthony Hopkins and his dodgy Irish accent. [...]

New Music from Michael Giacchino

April 19, 2008

One of my favourite composers working today (along with John Powell, Marco Beltrami, and John Ottman) is Michael Giacchino. I look forward to all of his scores and now with the upcoming release of Speed Racer you can listen to his full score for that film online, FREE.
Check it out for yourselves here.
It’s a fun [...]

Working Hard and Hardly Working

April 18, 2008

I’m in the midst of a rewrite on a script project with Grandmaster G so as a result I’ve been slacking off on the whole posting front. Apologies. I’m such a lazy shite.
So in my absence may I recommend you check out the superb links in the sidebar under Screenwriters Online.
Be right back, duty calls.

Lost … What?

All those whats and not a single pardon. Not even from Charlie. God rest him. A disgrace.
