Trivia

Some random and useless trivia on Kevin Lehane.

• Kevin shares his birthday of July 1st with Indiana Jones. Like Indiana Jones, Kevin also has a flying fridge to double as a bomb shelter should a nuclear war breakout.

• Kevin is allergic to cats and pollen. He is especially allergic to cats who garden.

• Kevin has swum with sharks off the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and highly recommends it. The sharks were beautiful, mesmerising black tip and white tip reef sharks, but Kevin would sooner you didn’t know this, as you’re more likely to imagine great whites, which would be hardcore.

• Kevin can do a perfect impersonation of Chewbacca’s mewl from Star Wars. He can also do the Predator purr. When Kevin does these people gasp and touch themselves intimately.

• Kevin has twice narrowly avoided his own demise. When he was 6-years-old he escaped the King’s Cross Underground Fire of 1987 by mere minutes. It was a major disaster with hundreds injured and 31 killed. Kevin didn’t start the fire.

• In school, the guy who sat in front of Kevin in English class, the guy behind him in French class, and the guy beside him in Maths class are all dead. Kevin is not making this up and Kevin did not kill them. They died of drugs, joyriding and epilepsy. Kevin believes he is either next, or the Grim Reaper.

• Kevin has lived at one time or another in London, Cork, Auckland, Wellington, Aitutaki (in the Cook Islands), Los Angeles, Cairns, Melbourne and Sydney. Cork will always be regarded as his home, though.

• Kevin is great for filling awkward silences, except the ones he creates, like that time he told that girl “the guy who runs that place is a complete wanker and a massive coke-head,” and it turned out to be her boyfriend and Kevin had to sit next to her in the backseat of a car for six hours.

• Kevin is scared of heights. And Nicolas Cage movies.

• Kevin has bungee jumped three times, one of which was The Nevis, the second highest bungee in the World at 440ft high (and the highest at the time) with eight seconds of freefall. Kevin will never, ever, ever, ever do it again.

• Kevin can belch on command and once challenged a school friend to a burp-off, but threw up on himself midway.

• Kevin’s favourite film of all time is Superman (1978). When Kevin was very small he believed he could fly up and down the stairs when no one was watching, somehow mistaking a dream for reality. Kevin discovered he did not possess the ability to fly when he bounced off every step on the way down

• Kevin has sky-dived from 12,000ft. He did so in Taupo, New Zealand. Unlike the bungees Kevin will definitely sky-dive again. Kevin says “who knew falling out of a plane would be so much fun.”

• On August 21st, 2005 Kevin saw the dawn of a new day before anyone else on the whole planet in Te Kaha, New Zealand. Kevin was with five friends at the time, but Kevin wants to believe they all blinked when he didn’t, so technically he was first. Kevin also doesn’t care about sailors at sea. Kevin was first.

• Kevin once nagged a female Po Lin monk for directions at Ngong Ping in Hong Kong while lost exploring the walkways around the Tian Tan Buddha statue. Kevin was unaware the shaven headed monks had taken vows of silence and still feels mortified about making one of them speak. She mumbled “that way.”

• Kevin grew up a few doors down from golden globe winning actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers when he was simply known as John O’Keeffe. Kevin has been unable to watch him in a movie ever since.

• Kevin likes to write about himself in the third person.
